Director of Volunteer Services - The Nelson Center (Denton, Texas)

This position requires experience in administration and coordination of the designated volunteer program, supervising volunteers, coordinating events, fund raising, marketing, and publicity responsibilities. Facilitate and coordinate local volunteer committees for fund raising events. Recruit, train and supervise volunteers for local programs. Market local churches, civic groups, and community leaders to build ecumenical and broad support for LSS programs.

Assist Public Relations with publicity tasks, and serve as liaison with local churches, agencies, community resources and professional groups.
Notify Public Relations of possible media coverage, speaking engagements and other opportunities in a timely manner.

Work through the local Advisory Boards, fund raising committees and other established volunteer groups to create and enhance awareness, publicity and fundraising opportunities. Prepare, compile, submit and maintain accurate records, forms, statistics, monthly reports and additional relevant information in accordance with agency policy and/or funding requirements. Report volunteer-scheduled activities and projected plans to the Associate Vice President of Community/Church Relations on a regular basis as determined by the Area Vice President.

Some travel, weekend and evening work required.

Bachelor's degree in communication or marketing and two or more years of professional work experience preferred, Associate's degree and three or more years of professional work experience preferred, and experience working with volunteers, volunteer groups, churches, church leaders, and fund raising.
Possess excellent interpersonal skills, as well as organizational and planning skills. Demonstrate an ability to persuade and motivate others. Please provide salary requirements when submitting resumes. EOE M/F/V/D
